What is GERMS?
We are a student-run, all-volunteer ambulance service, serving Georgetown University and the community since 1982. We provide year round, 24/7 medical services (rapid response, treatment, and transport) to Georgetown and the surrounding community.
How do I join?
Membership in GERMS is open to all individuals who have an affiliation with Georgetown University. There are two major ways in which new members join GERMS. Most new members take and pass the Emergency Medical Technician - Basic course offered semesterly by our Department of Training. In addition, those who hold an emergency medical certification in another jurisdiction can become members of GERMS by obtaining reciprocity from the District of Columbia.
