The GERMS EMT-B Class
GERMS offers an Initial Certification Course at the EMT-Basic level once per
semester, and it is open to both Georgetown undergraduate and graduate students,
as well as community members.
GERMS will be offering an EMT-B class starting in
early January. The course will run until mid-April, with lecture taking place on
Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7:15-10:15pm and practical skills sessions taking
place on Saturday mornings from 8:30am to 1pm. Attendance at all lectures and
practicals is mandatory. Historically, the course has averaged $700 for
Georgetown-affiliated persons and $800 for community members. A combination of
GERMS personnel and professionals in emergency fields, nursing, and medicine
teach the course.
There will be three information sessions held during the first week of second
semester. Please continue to check this website for specific dates and times.
Please be advised that admission to the EMT-B program does not guarantee
admission into GERMS. Also, the Saturday portion of the class focuses entirely
on physical skills, so individuals must be able to lift and move a patient with
minor assistance.

Brody, Director of Training.
